You are now watching: “Weird Al’s” Jurassic Park Video

So this music video was a very low budget indie project that ended up garnering a Grammy Nomination of all things (we lost to David Fincher’s Rolling Stone video so it was good company to be in).  I co-directed the video with Scott Nordlund, an animator and filmmaker I met while working on a commercial for CalArts grad David Daniels.  Scott brought a lot of friends from Will Vinton Studios to help us make the video in the house I was renting with my brother Kent in Reseda.  We turned the whole house into a production facility shooting in the dining room, bedroom, garage and even in the backyard.  It was a fun and stressful project, but we finished on time and on budget.  We made it for the amazingly low cost of 78 thousand dollars, if you can believe that.  But I’m guessing you’ll believe it after you actually see it (and I can only say that since all of the worst animation in there is all my fault…).

Entertainment Tonight shot a behind the scenes video. It is horrible quality but you can see how our house really was the production facility, right down to the reference shoot of Al in our living room, and lil ol’ me at about 3 mins in.
